Saint

St. Rose of Lima

St. Rose of Lima was a Peruvian laywoman and the first canonized saint of the Americas.

Biography

St. Rose of Lima was born in Peru and lived an intense life of prayer, penance, and charity. As a laywoman, she remained in her family and social setting while seeking to belong entirely to Christ.

Her importance is great for the Church in Latin America. She shows that holiness also flowers outside monasteries, in daily life, when prayer and love for the poor are united.

Rose inspires us to live faith seriously, care for those in need, and turn our own homes into places of prayer and service.
