St. James the Greater

St. James the Greater was an apostle of Jesus and one of the first to witness to Christ by martyrdom.

Biography

St. James, son of Zebedee and brother of John, was called by Jesus while working as a fisherman. He belonged to the Twelve and accompanied important moments in the Lord's ministry.

The Church venerates him as apostle and martyr. His life reminds us that following Christ involves closeness to the Master, correction of ambition, and readiness to give one's life.

James inspires us to walk with Jesus without seeking privilege, accept purification of intentions, and serve courageously when faith demands decision.
