Biography
St. Camillus de Lellis was born in Italy and passed through a difficult youth before a deep conversion. His own experience of fragility brought him close to the suffering of the sick.
He founded a community dedicated to caring for the ill, seeing the presence of Christ in each sick person. His life helped the Church unite concrete assistance, prayer, and human dignity.
Camillus inspires us to visit, listen to, and serve those who suffer, remembering that Christian charity is not theory: it kneels beside the bed, accompanies, and cares.
